Career Highlights

Baynote Corporation. Vice President Engineering (2004 - 2007)

Baynote is a SaaS firm, selling an on-demand recommendation service to the Enterprise and eCommerce markets. Using proprietary social-networking technology, it revolutionizes customer information discovery in large websites.

Member of the founding team, with hands-on responsibility for all technical development and operations. Built engineering and operations organizations from scratch, including an offshore unit in the PRC. Architected and delivered the robust multi-tier and multi-tenant webservice and analytics engine that sits behind the service. This was implemented completely with open-source technologies (Linux, Apache, MySQL, REST, Java, PHP, Ajax) and delivered via a very simple yet powerful UI framework.

Baynote has achieved tremendous market acceptance and is rapidly growing.

Interwoven Corporation. Vice President Engineering (1998 - 2002)

Interwoven sells web content-management tools to the Enterprise market.

I was responsible for engineering development and sustaining, dispersed across multiple sites. My organization delivered a range of content-management products on multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, Solaris), involving many partner integrations. Technologically, Interwoven products ran the gamut, requiring deep development expertise from the OS kernel to the UI.

Interwoven went public in 2000.

Perspecta Corporation. Vice President Engineering (1995 - 1998)

Perspecta sold web analytics and visualization tools to the Enterprise market.

Member of founding team. I was responsible for engineering development and support, growing the organization from its initial founding to acquisition.

We sold Perspecta to Excite@Home in 1998.

CounterPoint LLC, Principle (1993 - 1995)

I founded Counterpoint as a boutique development house, providing high-end custom internet development solutions for a wide range of clients, including Knight-Ridder, Phone.com and American Airlines. I both ran the business as well as did hands-on development, particularly in the UI area.

EO Corporation, Engineering Director (1991 - 1993)

Managed several engineering efforts, delivering a series of products for the early PDA market.

EO was acquired by AT&T in 1993.

Momenta Corporation, Engineer (1990 - 1991)

Momenta was a failed PDA startup.

I designed object-oriented frameworks and UIs for the Momenta environment.

3Com Corporation, Engineer (1984 - 1990)

3Com was an early pioneer in the PC networking market.

Developed a wide range of network products for the PC and Macintosh platform. This included 3+Mail, an early and highly successful email product, as well as a number of lower-level systems/firmware products.
